Marin Turns 1

Marin almost got to open her present all by herself.

Trick or Treat

Marin our little red and purple fairy. She stayed home and dumped the candy bowl. Derric had the evening off (which is amazing - he most often works Halloween) and took the kids around the block. This was one of the first Halloween's we didn't have snow.
Princes Hazel and Knight Kaelen.
Derric was ultra excited as he bought fireworks on our road trip home this summer to lite for Halloween. The scenario: Secret agent Lewis lit off his first 3 fireworks in the back yard. Success!! the kids and neighbours were thrilled. But as secret agent Lewis was setting up his final 4 fireworks two Police officers on bicycle rode down our street. Laying low till the coast was clear Lewis returned to the back yard to carry out his mission. The neighbours were notified and the fireworks deployed. Agent Lewis quickly hid the evidence (in the BBQ) and life returned to normal. A cop car did drive down our road - but it was too late the packages had been deployed.

Happy Birthday Daddy.

Derric turns 34.

The Long Ride Home.

We put Hazel on the plane in Vancouver August 27th so she would make it back for her second day of school (school in the Yukon starts the week before Labour Day) and the rest of us headed back up the highway for the long ride home.Kaelen and Marin were great little travelers.
By the time we got home they were pretty fed up with the car. Kaelen wouldn't sit beside Marin - he didn't want to take care of her and Marin hated her car seat.
Highlights of the trip: 13 out of 17 nights tenting. - Derric's family bonding! Picking our own peaches. Seeing the Okanagan. Picking fresh corn on the trip home.
The scenery was lovey but I still think I am spoiled with wanting to fly (comes from having a husband who works for an airline).

You Pick Peaches

As we were leaving Kelowna we saw a U-Pick Peaches orchard. The kids had great fun finding as picking peaches - more fun than eating them.
Marin on the other hand just wouldn't stop eating her peach.
She would scream if you took the peach away from her mouth.

A Look at Kelowna's Past.

During our Kelowna trip we visited Father Pandosy's Misson. It was really interesting to see. Derric, Ruth and I enjoyed the visit. I think the kids were bored - but they did get to go to the water park.
